Here comes my favorite holiday of the year, Thanksgiving!

 

What can be better than celebrating food, family, and friends? I realize that art plays such a huge role in my life, so I wanted to take a moment to be thankful for all the ways art makes life better:

Thank you ART, for bringing people together.

 

Thank you ART, for being an excuse to experiment and create things for a living.

 

Thank you ART, for being an excuse to dress up without judgment at art openings.

Thank you ART, for acting as an ice-breaker during awkward social moments, that transform into heated debates about what is art.

 

Thank you ART, for being aloof, so that countless generations of young entrepreneurs can make “art accessible to the masses”.

 

Thank you ART, for having such an unregulated and mysterious market, because if it was more regulated then it wouldn’t be so continuously fascinating.

 

Thank you ART, for being an outlet to express emotions that no one would understand if they’re spoken out loud, but that people will post-rationalize and pay for once they’re on display.

 

Thank you ART, for creating hope during a time of darkness.

 

Thank you ART, for inspiring people to action.

 

Thank you ART, for creating purpose.

 

Thank you ART, for the sense of humor.

 

Thank you ART, for embracing both criticism and praise equally.

 

Thank you ART, for being inspirational, visible, invisible, audible, edible, conceptual, functional, impractical, entertaining, intellectual, superficial, truthful, ironic, curious, controversial, beautiful.
